Jamie's yoga journey began after a severe shoulder injury ended her athletic career while training for the 2016 Swimming Olympic Trials. After allowing her athletic involvement to become her identity, she was struggling to find herself. She began looking for a new physical activity that would be both physically and mentally challenging, but fit within the needs of her body. Once she allowed her competitive guard to diffuse, she was able to experience all of the benefits that a yoga practice had to offer. The mantra she frequently comes back to is to accept the things you can’t do and embrace the things you can.
Jamie uses her experience as a National Athlete to improve students' physical self awareness by helping them understand their body through yoga. She is a 200 hour RYT with additional training in Restorative Yoga, Yoga Anatomy, Fascia, and Yoga for Trauma. She is also a Reiki Practitioner and will be completing Sound Healing Practitioner Training in the near future.
